Garage
Garage provides S3 compatible object-storage for e.g. Velero, Loki, etc. On actual IaaS-providers. Within the Haven+ reference implementation context, Garage is used for the local overlay. For production set-ups, you should probably use S3 compatible Object Storage of the provider itself. In any case, the Garage configuration used for the local overlay, should not be used in production environments!
Garage post-config
For the local overlay we use a postconfig job which takes care of the following:
- initialize Garage, i.e. create a layout.
- import a static key. Again, only use this for demo purposes / local overlay!
- automatically configure buckets for components like Loki, Velero, etc.
You can verify the bucket creation as follows:
kubectl -n garage exec garage-0 -c garage -- /garage bucket list
